Kathleen Nelson teaches Lower School music and is thrilled to have an after school choir as well. She taught for four years in the public schools in Texas before beginning at Trinity Academy in January 1997. She employs the Kodaly method of music education and was certified as a Kodaly instructor in July 2015. Kodaly said, “Teach music and singing at school in such a way that it is not a torture but a joy for the pupil; instill a thirst for finer music in him, a thirst which will last a lifetime. Often a single experience will open the young soul to music for a whole lifetime.” Kathleen works to make music classes full of joy.
She is the proud mother to two Trinity Academy graduates, Caitlin, ’07 and Hannah ’10 and Upper School student, Josh ’19. She is the grandmother to two great kids as well. When she’s not working or spending time with her family, she enjoys scrap booking and crafting.
