Architectural Designer, Jacobs Engineering Group
David is the first Trinity alumnus to serve on the Board of Directors. After graduating from Trinity in 2007, David earned a degree in Architecture from Virginia Tech, graduating Summa Cum Laude. He has since served on the building committee for Trinity’s current construction projects and long-term campus development. David is married to Brianna Bulzan (Wood), also a 2007 Trinity graduate.
Since his graduation from Virginia Tech, David has worked for Gensler, a global architectural design firm, and gained experience in high-end retail, commercial and mixed-use construction. His specialty is in digital design, rendering and post-processing- taking projects from their schematic design through substantial completion. Most recently he has joined the team at Jacobs as an architectural designer with a focus on large biotech and pharmaceutical design. During this time, David contributed in the design and development of a number of projects for Fortune 100 clients.
David and his wife Brianna also own d+b designhouse, a product design and fabrication studio dedicated to producing timeless, handcrafted furniture pieces using locally sourced materials. The company was built out of a desire to see old principles of design revived in an acutely modern way; borrowing the words of T.S. Elliot: designing involves “a perception, not only of the pastness of the past, but of its presence”. Their works have been featured in Cottage Hill Magazine, HSD, and other online publications.
Both David and Brianna have remained involved in the Trinity Academy community by hosting a Chinese International Student and enjoy the role of “mom and dad”, as they anticipate James’ graduation in May of 2016. David also volunteers his time as a sound engineer on the production team at The Summit Church.
David’s heart for Trinity:
As an alumnus, I can’t help but feel the impact this community has had on my life. Trinity provided me with some of my closest friends, opened doors to some of my most prestigious opportunities and has given me my wife. Above all, Trinity taught me to dig deep into the truth of Christ and because of that, I want to see this school touch the lives of many others for generations to come.
