The Trinity Difference
"Trinity Academy is a K-12 college preparatory community,
where faith and reason meet creative expression."
About the Trinity Community:
Trinity Academy is more than just a school for your children; it is a Community of Faith and Learning where parents are involved in their child’s education and where students are accepted and feel a sense of belonging.
Trinity’s community provides a safe, nurturing and inviting environment, where students and families can learn, mature and grow in their understanding of God, the world and themselves. Our commitment is to maintain an environment in which students, staff and families live according to biblical standards of behavior, with an emphasis upon developing quality relationships.
About Faith and Reason:
“We don’t tell our students what to think…..we teach them how to think.”
We are unapologetic about the centrality of Christ, Christianity and the Scriptures to all we teach and learn, while being purposeful about developing critical thinking skills in every student. We want our students to become “thinking Christians,” so thinking is part of the stated curriculum in the lower school, and upper school students take required courses in formal and informal logic.
When it comes to exposing students to the controversial issues and ideas of the world, we believe in age-appropriate “inoculation… not quarantine.” Since students will encounter every worldly idea in college and beyond, we want them to wrestle with these ideas while under the tutelage of godly teachers and while they can still discuss these issues with Mom and Dad over dinner each night.
About Creative Expression:
In order to become future culture-shaping Christians, our students must be both wise and eloquent. They must be able to express their thoughts in writing and through speech in ways that persuade and inspire others.
Our 4th-12th grade humanities curriculum emphasizes creative writing as well as research-based writing, which culminates in presenting and defending the Sr. Thesis before graduation.
Upper school students take formal Rhetoric, learning to be confident, articulate and persuasive public speakers, while lower school students prepare for upper school Rhetoric through a strong oratory curriculum.
The fine arts are also “curricular” at Trinity, since certain skills and life-lessons can only be gained through participation in the arts. Over the years, Trinity has developed an exceptional award-wining program in the fine arts. Lower school students take music and art classes that include elements of theory, appreciation, history and performance, while upper school students may take two fine arts classes each year, choosing among visual, choral and theatre arts.
In short, Trinity Academy offers families an extraordinary education within an extraordinary community of faith and learning.
